About Us

Our Society was founded in 1970 The idea behind the formation of the Society was to protect Plympton’s heritage and to oversee any future development ensuring that it is not to the detriment of our Town.

This tradition continues, we still keep a close watch on any new developments within the Area.

We also oversee the maintenance of The Plympton Priory adjacent to Plympton St Mary’s Church. Most Thursday mornings there is a working party maintaining this Heritage Site, and from time to time there are open days when there is someone on hand to give information and help to visitors.

The Society is run by a Committee which is elected at each AGM. They meet most months to maintain the business of the Society, discuss any issues which may arise and take the necessary action.

The Society runs events throughout the year, including visits to places of interest, Guided Tours, Talks, Walks etc. We usually have a Summer Lunch, last year it was at Boringdon Golf Club. We run stalls at Local Events such as the May Fair, Christmas Fair and St Maurice Lamb Feast. Each year we host a Charity Quiz, which raises money for local charities.
